Morning at Vermillion Provincial Park
Had such a relaxing and great ride from Vermillion into Jasper National Park. The plains give way to hilly country and finally the tremendous mountains of the Canadian Rockies.
They had very heavy rains a few days before, and all the lakes and rivers are very full. One can see some signs of overflooding. The lakes range in color from white-green to a deep azure-green. We drove on the valley floor following the Athabasca River, an early route used by explorers and trappers. We came to the area called Jasper Townsite, a lovely tourist town.
On to Wapiti Campground, one of the many all through the park. Our site is so beautiful – not far from a roaring river with other sites a distance away.
Big fire in our camp and bed early.
