DAY 54

Friday, 8/22/69

Another bright, clear day. Cleaned up trailer.

Boys played endless games of hide and seek in the woods, and then we walked down to the beach. Boys in and out of the water.

We read, slept, and were lazy all day. Felt so good! Boys and Howard played ball – tag. We talked to our neighbor, campers who later gave us fish, smelt they caught for dinner. We fried them in pan over our fireplace and they are good. Learned how to fry and remove bones from them. Boys chased girls. Later, we all went to huge bonfire our neighbors started on beach. Girl came down with guitar. Beautiful voice.
Sunset exquisite and luckily Howard got picture of it. All sang, popped popcorn, and stayed until 11:00 p.m. Got boys to sleep and we did same.

8/22/69, Kalaloch, Olympic National Park, Washington
